Parents of Gen Z: Read This About Jobs

This is for GenZ parents: Everyone is telling you AI will eliminate entry-level jobs. But IBM just announced it's tripling junior hiring in 2026.

Both things are true ... and the difference matters.

IBM isn't just hiring more junior people. They're redesigning what those roles look like entirely. Less repetitive work, more judgment, client interaction, and problem-solving.

The process gets rebuilt around what AI handles and what still requires a human to own.

Here's the lens that actually explains it: it depends on what your company sells.

  • In relationship-driven businesses (consulting, services, client work) AI makes junior people more capable, not redundant.

  • In output-driven businesses (code, reports, datasets) if AI produces it cheaper, the junior human in the middle becomes optional.

Most companies are watching productivity climb while headcount quietly drifts down and calling it a strategy. IBM is being intentional about it instead.

Ayesha’s Take: For any parent of a GenZ kid about to graduate, this is the most hopeful signal in a long time. Not a guarantee. A signal that companies redesigning around AI will still need that graduating class.

The question is whether a young adult walks in already fluent in AI tools or waits to be taught. That gap likely matters more than their major, their GPA, or where they went to school.

AI Is Coming to Fast Food

Burger King’s AI Is Tracking Whether Workers Say “Please”

At 500 Burger King locations, employees are now wearing OpenAI-powered headsets called Patty that help flag low inventory, remove sold-out items from menus, and alert managers to issues like dirty restrooms. But the feature that went viral is this: the AI also tracks how often workers say words like “welcome,” “please,” and “thank you”. Burger King says it’s meant to support coaching and improve customer service, though some see it as a new level of workplace monitoring. 😲

Robot Fry Cooks Are Now a $28 Billion Race

A new Fortune deep dive explores the fast-growing push to install AI robots behind fast food counters, targeting chains like White Castle and Jack in the Box. Backed by $28B in investment, companies are building fully autonomous fry stations that can cook, time, and serve food with minimal human help.

Stop Saying Yes to Bad AI

Big news: LinkedIn has made my AI course free for all members until March 23 as part of a curated selection of their top courses. 🥳

"The AI Advantage: Making High-Stakes Decisions with Clarity"

I made this course for the leaders I meet constantly who are under enormous pressure to "do something with AI" in corporations but have no real way to evaluate what's worth doing. They're smart, experienced, and capable - they just haven't been given the right tools to cut through the noise.

So I built a framework. No jargon. No assumed technical background. Just a clear, repeatable way to ask: does this AI initiative actually make sense for us - our strategy, our customers, our culture, our budget?

If you're the person in the room who has to say yes or no to these decisions, this will be a gamechanger. It’s just 45min (and a good friend of mine watched it while she was on the elliptical).

Would love to hear what you think after you watch it! The wonderful LinkedIn AI learning team shot it in New York in December (my fave city).

Access the course here. It’s free until March 23.
