This AI Knows What You Eat and How It Affects You

If you use an Oura Ring, you likely track sleep, stress, and movement. Now it also helps you understand how food impacts your body.

This week, Oura launched AI-powered glucose tracking and meal logging, part of its $75M Dexcom-backed push into what everyone is talking about these days: metabolic health.

So what’s metabolic health? It’s how well your body processes food into energy, especially by efficiently managing glucose (a type of sugar that’s the primary source of energy for your body’s cells).

Poor metabolic health disrupts energy processing, leading to weight gain, fatigue, and a higher risk of chronic diseases like type 2 diabetes and heart disease—but it’s often reversible with the right lifestyle changes.

Here’s how the new tools work together to help:

  • 24/7 Glucose Tracking: The Oura Ring pairs with Dexcom’s Stelo CGM, a small upper-arm sensor, to monitor glucose in your blood in real time.

  • Meal Tracking: Snap a photo of your meal—Oura’s AI identifies foods, estimates nutrients, and suggests tweaks to support steady energy and glucose levels.

  • AI Insights: Oura’s AI Advisor analyzes your data to show how habits (sleep, food, movement, stress) impact metabolic health and offers personalized tips to improve it.

I see lots of young fitness enthusiasts at the gym wearing glucose monitors. Maybe I’ll give it a try someday too. 😇 Watch this and this 30-second Insta video by Oura about the new feature.

Half a Country Hacked? South Korea’s $5B Data Disaster

Image: SKT

In one of South Korea’s most serious cybersecurity incidents to date, hackers breached the systems of SK Telecom (SKT), the country’s largest wireless carrier, stealing the personal data of 23 million customers in April. That’s nearly half the nation’s population. 😱

Here’s what’s unfolded so far:

  • The Breach: Hackers infiltrated SKT’s central subscriber server, stealing 25 types of sensitive information. This included mobile phone numbers and unique security codes that allow a phone line to connect securely to the network.

  • Risks: Experts warn that with this data, criminals could attempt SIM swapping (taking over someone’s phone number) or even conduct surveillance. Such attacks could let hackers intercept calls, texts, and potentially access bank accounts or other services tied to a phone number.

  • Fallout is growing fast: Already, 250,000 users have switched providers, and SKT says that number could hit 2.5 million if it waives cancellation fees, potentially costing the company $5 billion in the next three years.

This breach is a stark wake-up call: in the AI era, where data is currency, trust is a company’s most valuable asset. Customers won’t just walk away—they’ll flee.

Would You Let a Robot Cook Your Dinner?

Video: Posha (YouTube)

Many of us want to eat healthier, but picking a recipe, grocery shopping, and cooking often leads us back to takeout.

That’s the problem Raghav Gupta set out to solve with Posha, a $1,750 countertop robot that cooks meals for you.

Here’s how it works: You pick a recipe from the app, add the right ingredients into the machine, and Posha takes over from there. It handles the heat, the stirring, the timing—all automated.

Check out this 1:23 min video of Posha making Dal Makhni (a delish Indian lentil dish).

You’ll still need to do some prep (like chopping), but it can cut your kitchen time in half.

Posha sold out its first batch and raised $8M to expand. Fans call it a lifesaver for busy cooks, though critics argue it still asks too much for the price, especially if you’re chopping anyway. 🤷🏽‍♀️

So… robot chef on your counter? Or still team stove?

Would you trust a $1,750 robot with your dinner plans?
