AI Labs Are So Yesterday—Build AI on The Go

Here’s why it’s exciting:

  • NVIDIA’s secret sauce is the Grace Blackwell Superchip, which combines all the components into one chip, making it faster and more efficient.

  • It’s capable of running LLMs with up to 200 billion parameters. For context, that’s enough to power the original ChatGPT, which ran on GPT-3.5.

Traditionally, running high-performance AI models meant relying on cloud-based data centers, which is slow and costly.

With Project Digits expected to launch for $3000, NVIDIA is making advanced technology accessible to small researchers and teams, that was once only available to big tech giants with huge labs.

This could be a major step toward democratizing supercomputing: imagine a college student in their dorm room, casually training an AI model on the same laptop they use for Netflix.

I think this device will be a game-changer especially for young students and researchers, making it much easier for them to approach and develop AI projects.

Will the next big AI model come out of a bedroom or a garage? It’s possible.

Your Pastor’s AI Twin Is Here to Guide You

Rabbi Josh created the experimental “Rabbi Bot.” Image: Congregation Emanu El

Religious leaders are stepping into the digital age with AI tools that assist in everything from sermon writing to theological research, the New York Times reports.

For instance, Rabbi Josh Fixler in Houston introduced his congregation to “Rabbi Bot,” an AI trained on his past sermons. It even delivered a sermon in his voice—without anyone noticing.

Here’s the bigger picture:

  • Religious leaders such as Rabbi Joshua are using ChatGPT to generate outlines for sermons, get scripture references, and translate sermons into other languages.

  • Others have incorporated AI-generated visuals to enhance the worship experience and make it more relatable to younger audiences.

  • Faith-based AI startups like Pastors.ai are creating tools to assist with tasks like answering theological questions or offering virtual pastoral care.

Similarly, a temple in Kyoto created a $1M robot called "Mindar" to give Buddhist sermons in 2019. The robot represents Kannon Bodhisattva (Goddess of mercy), and was made to help bring more people to Buddhism.

Some people see AI as a useful tool for reaching more people, while others are cautious about its limits. As Rabbi Oren Hayon puts it, “Our job is not just to put pretty sentences together. It’s to respond to uniquely human hungers and pains.”

Critics worry about the ethics of using AI, questioning if AI-generated sermons can be truly sincere or if it might lead to made-up scriptures or insights.

While integrating AI into faith might feel unconventional, there’s no doubt it’s helpful in enabling preachers to connect with and inspire a much broader audience. 🕊️

Jumping Cars: Worth the Hype or Just a Gimmick?

Video: BYD

Chinese automaker BYD has unveiled the Yangwang U9 supercar, which turned heads at CES 2025 with its “jumping suspension” technology.

A video demo shows the car leaping 6 meters forward to avoid a pothole, while also navigating road spikes with precision. The system is designed to absorb heavy shocks and adjust the car’s height as needed, even allowing the vehicle to drive on three wheels (or dance). Drivers in Pakistan and India will love this one—finally, a car that can handle their roads 😄

Priced at $230K, the Yangwang U9 offers a unique selling point, but is a jumping car worth the hefty price tag?

Would you pay $230K for a car that can jump?

Articles I’ve Been Reading:

Singapore-based Firmus Technologies has just been awarded the Asia Pacific Data Centre Project of the Year for its AI Factory facility.

This matters because data centers are massive energy consumers. For context, a single data centre with a demand of one gigawatt uses as much energy annually as 700,000 homes or an entire city of 1.8 million people, according to CNBC.

The redesigned centres reduced energy consumption by 45%. Plus to add cherry on the cake, it costs 30% less too compared to direct-to-chip cooling systems. What’s not to love?

Firmus’s decade-long focus on energy-efficient AI infrastructure aligns with Singapore’s National AI Strategy. CEO Tim Rosenfield emphasized the company’s ability to overcome challenges such as space constraints and Singapore’s humid climate, showcasing the global applicability of their solutions.

Hope you’re having a great week!

If you’re looking for a great show to watch over the weekend, I’m watching “Slow Horses” on Apple TV. It’s an awesome series about a dysfunctional team of MI5 agents and their obnoxious but brilliant boss! 🤩
